SOUTH PASADENA, CA – The City of South Pasadena has officially announced comprehensive plans for its highly anticipated 2025 Festival of Balloons, a cherished annual tradition marking Independence Day. Set to unfold on Friday, July 4, 2025, the day-long event promises a full schedule of community-focused activities, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.

The 2025 festival will be held under the resonant theme, “Unity in Community: One Nation, One Neighborhood,” reflecting the city’s commitment to fostering togetherness and celebrating the diverse fabric of its residents and the nation as a whole.

A Morning of Community Gathering

The day’s festivities will commence early, inviting residents and visitors to partake in long-standing community traditions. The Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m., offering a warm start to the day. This popular annual breakfast will be held at the South Pasadena Fire Station, located at 817 Mound Avenue.

Following the breakfast, attention will turn towards the official commencement of the day’s programmed events. The Opening Ceremony is set to take place at 10:30 a.m. Participants are invited to gather on the steps of the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room, situated at 1115 El Centro Street, for brief remarks and the ceremonial start of the July 4th celebration.

The Iconic Festival of Balloons Parade

The heart of the morning’s activities is undoubtedly the annual Festival of Balloons Parade. Known for its vibrant floats, marching bands, community groups, and of course, festive balloons, the parade is a highlight that draws crowds from across the region. The 2025 parade is scheduled to step off promptly at 11:00 a.m., promising a lively spectacle for onlookers lining the streets.

The parade route will traverse a significant portion of Mission Street, beginning its journey at Diamond Avenue and proceeding westward. The procession will culminate at Garfield Park, where the afternoon’s celebration will transition.

Afternoon Fun at Garfield Park

Upon the parade’s conclusion, Garfield Park will transform into a bustling hub of activity, offering entertainment and engagement for attendees of all ages. A live concert featuring the band Faultline is scheduled to take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., providing musical entertainment leading up to the fireworks.

Ticketing Information and Access

Admission to the fireworks event at the high school stadium requires a ticket. The city has made provisions for advance ticket purchases, offering a discount for those who plan ahead. Online presale tickets are available for $15.00 per person. These presale tickets can be purchased until 6:00 p.m. on July 4, 2025, through the official city website at www.southpasadenaca.gov/events.

For those who do not purchase tickets in advance, they will be available for purchase at the door on the evening of the event for $20.00 per person. As in previous years, children 2 years and under will be admitted free of charge, making the event accessible for families with very young children.
